Hopi Silver Pin by Willie Coin, c. 1950s
PI 3056
Coin’s pieces are among the rarest in the field (this is only the second hallmarked piece we have handled in the last 27 years). Coin was important in the Hopi jewelry revival movement, and his work is rare; he was a custodian and demonstrating artist at the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff for many years and his work is in their collection, but few pieces are in private hands. His hallmark represents Masaw, a Hopi kachina. Very nice, deep, early overlay. 1 1/2” diameter, weight 10 grams.
