Chrome Diopside Necklace
Brand new chrome diopside stone, bezel-set in a half bezel slider set on a 14k white gold chain. Chrome diopside is one of Diana’s favorite stones because it has the color of the best emeralds without the clarity and fractures that many emeralds have. This stone type is typically untreated, as the beautiful natural color and clarity are inherent. Like emerald, chrome diopside receives it’s color from chromium or vanadium and interestingly, the only source is from eastern Siberia, and due to weather, can only be mined a few months of the year. The Mohs hardness is 5.5-6 and is ideal for necklaces and earrings. This stone was purchased by Diana from a local stone cutter who acquired it directly in the 1980s or 90s at the Tuscon Gem and Mineral Show from a Siberian dealer. The mount and design were selected by Diana for you or your fine jewelry lover!
